The Alberton Fire Department has commenced a fundraising campaign for a Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB).
Update - dated 18 December 2020
We have had an absolutely incredible week with our fundraising campaign for our SAR BOAT PROJECT. When we started the public campaign on Monday (14 December 2020) at noon, our fire department never imagined we’d be where we are today with our campaign.
Thanks to the unbelievable support from the business community, organizations and people of West Prince, our Provincial Government and the Town of Alberton we are very pleased to announce we have not reached, but surpassed our goal !!
We can not say THANK YOU enough to everyone who had a part in making this happen.
As of tomorrow, Saturday December 19th at 12:00 pm, we will close our fundraising campaign for our SAR boat project.
Again, thank you to everyone who has made this post possible!! We are humbled, appreciative and very thankful to you all.

Press Release - 15 December 2020
Over the past 5 years, as members of the Alberton Fire Department, we have seen an increase in water related emergency calls within our fire district. As a membership, this has caused us to look at our response capabilities, equipment, and training related to the calls we attend on our waterways. With an increase in recreational and commercial vessels on the water within our area, we have decided as a Department we want to raise our commitment to water related emergency calls within our district as well as all of West Prince.
The Alberton Fire Department is a volunteer service which is responsible for protecting several thousand people and over 2,200 private, public, and commercial properties. We are based in Alberton, Prince Edward Island, Canada. Aside from fire suppression, our members are highly trained in several specialist skill areas including medical first responder, high angle rescue, confined space rescue, vehicle extraction, and cold water rescue.
The Alberton Fire Department is made up of a highly dedicated and professional group of individuals who are committed to protecting the lives and property of the citizens in the area. When not responding to emergency calls, the members spend a great deal of time training, maintaining our equipment, and fund raising for new equipment to ensure the services we provide are the best they can be. We are also committed to providing fire safety education to the public.
As mentioned on other parts of this site, the Alberton Fire Department is a volunteer department. Like any volunteer fire department, unpaid does not mean unprofessional. The training the members undergo is of highly strict standards. We constantly review and update our practices in an effort to ensure that those we serve are as safe as they can be. The fact that the members are volunteer firefighters should also serve as a testament to the level of dedication these members have. They are willing to come to the aid of those in need, regardless of the time of day or the situation, without financial compensation. The residents and visitors to our area can rest assured that the Alberton Fire Department is here to maintain their safety to the best of the Department's ability.
